What is OceanObs?
From the broadest perspective, OceanObs is a data management tool that allows a variety of user groups to catalogue, present, and query ocean, freshwater and meterological observing information, such as sensor locations, observing parameters, collaborators, data products, and more.

Who is OceanObs for?
OceanObs is a versatile, multi-use system that allows all users to search for information on regional programs studying topics of interest. It also provides a database for administrative managers and data managers of observing programs to create metadata on their activities.

Who maintains OceanObs?
OceanObs was developed by the Central and Northern California Ocean Observing System (CeNCOOS), the Sanctuary Integrated Monitoring Network(SIMoN), and the National Coastal Data Development Center (NCDDC) to manage information on ocean observing activities. Together, these organizations have designed a centralized database, a secure website, and an internet mapping application to provide the functionality necessary to manage information on ocean observing programs in the CeNCOOS region. Today, the database is maintained by CeNCOOS staff.
