Connecting the Dots on Ocean Acidification

Collaborating to monitor ocean acidification at Hog Island Oyster Co

Looking at the surface of the ocean, it appears ever resilient. However, beneath the surface, important changes such as ocean acidification are occurring. Shellfish farmers on the West Coast are witnessing changes to the ocean that may be an indication of things to come.

This story illustrates how a unique science-industry partnership is changing the way we monitor ocean acidification. With a rapidly changing ocean, this successful collaborative effort between CeNCOOS, UC Davis, and Hog Island Oyster Company serves as a model for how joint monitoring can benefit research, business, and our understanding of the ocean.
