Oil Spill Exercise August 7-11, 2006
CeNCOOS collaborated with NOAA HAZMAT for the Safe Seas 2006 scenario in San Francisco. Safe Seas 2006 exercised NOAA's emergency response capabilities in the Cordell Bank, Gulf of Farallones and Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuaries in Central California, highlighting the ability to respond to an oil spill.

This was a great opportunity for CeNCOOS to recognize and utilize existing assets that may aid in the response efforts of NOAA HAZMAT. CeNCOOS and NOAA sponsored a workshop May 22-23rd in San Francisco to identify the NOAA HAZMAT efforts and capabilities and potential avenues for CeNCOOS to contribute to their efforts.
