IFCB 161 is currently deployed on the MBARI Power Buoy (36.744, -121.8845) in Monterey Bay.
Plots are generated by classifying thousands of images of phytoplankton that are generated every hour using a Xception deep convolutional neural network (DCNN) that is trained with 50 different classes from over 70K annotated images generated by the Kudela Lab at UCSC.
All timestamps are in UTC.
Caution should in interpreting results, as the classifier is still under validation. If any results look interesting or out of the ordinary, to check the IFCB Dashboard
to manually validate images.
Technical information on the classifier model is available here.
