Wave Climatology: Pt. Reyes Past/Present Wave Height Measurements
This is a dynamic graph of significant wave heights at Point Reyes. The image is updated each day using data from a CDIP buoy (located 22 NM west of Pt. Reyes, CA). The buoy samples every 30 minutes and the plot shows the daily average of those values.
Interpreting the plot: Daily wave heights for each year since 1997 are represented on the graph, with the current year's data highlighted in red. A long-term mean line (black line), is the average daily wave height from all previous years combined. This can be useful for seeing how the current year compares to the past. The maximum wave height (daily average) ever measured at Point Reyes (since 1997) is also displayed. Currently this value is from Jan 19th 2010 with an average wave height that day of 23.2 ft.
